Stanford GSE students show off inventions to improve learning

At the annual Learning Design and Technology Expo, students introduced prototypes of innovative learning and teaching tools.

After spending the past year exploring ways to use design and technology to improve learning, students at Stanford Graduate School of Education shared their ideas and prototypes with the public at the Learning Design and Technology (LDT) Expo on July 29.

The annual event is the culmination of the LDT master’s program, which draws students from around the world working in various disciplines. This year, the expo featured 12 projects offering novel approaches to an array of teaching and learning challenges—for instance, supporting children with visual impairments, engaging students in science learning outside the classroom, connecting support team members for children with learning differences, and helping educators avoid burnout by rediscovering their energy and motivation.

Each year the LDT Expo attracts an audience of education and technology professionals, potential investors, and curious community members. Many projects from past years have turned into real-life products, including mobile apps, teaching aids, and educational toys.
