Academic Grievances
Academic GrievancesGrievances about University or School policy and guidelines may be brought to the attention of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs or Associate Dean of Educational Affairs; an appeal could then be made to the Dean. Grievances related to program-specific guidelines that are integral to the student’s program of study are addressed by the Area Chair in discussion with the student and advisors. If necessary, any party may request that the full Area Committee consider the issue. An appeal can be made to the Area Chairs in Education Committee or the Dean if a satisfactory resolution is not accomplished at the Area level. The Stanford Bulletin contains a section entitled Statement on Student Academic Grievance Procedures in the Academic Policies and Statements chapter.
